A Dwarf and Cock Story

You know, rewatching Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story last night, I finally realized that that’s Olaf Petersen himself, Mark Williams, playing the “authentic 18th century battle historian.”

He sure has gotten pudgy…it was the nose that gave it away. Did anyone else even know he was in this movie? He has a small part (bad pun, but they use it in the movie…) but I have to admit he’s one of the film’s highlights. Which I say in a totally non-ironic way.

His photo also made it to the back of the DVD. So good for him.

Have you never seen The Fast Show or a Harry Potter movie, Phil?

Yeah, he’s most famous nowadays for being “that bloke from Harry Potter”. Before which he was “that bloke from the Fast Show”. Before which he was “that bloke from the Prudential adverts”. Oh, and he was in 101 Dalmations, as well. He’s generally quite well-known.

An attempt to sum up his post-Dwarf career might be -

‘This week I am mostly eating…cunt’ said Mr. Weasley, whilst grinning evilly at the puppies…..

Of course, he’s been in LOADS of stuff over the years. I remember he used to crop up in BBC comedies like Harry Enfield’s Television Programme and he’s in an episode of Bottom. The last thing I saw him in was Coogan’s Saxondale where he played an old mate of Tommy’s.

No and…no. My reasons would, respectively, be “I’m in America” and “I’m not interested.”

>The last thing I saw him in was Coogan’s Saxondale where he played an old mate of Tommy’s.

HA! I knew it. Once I realized who he was in Cock and Bull I thought mmmmaybe he was also Saxondale’s old drug-addict buddy…but it’s been a while since I saw the ep and it’s been removed from YouTube so I didn’t bother to explore further.

Oh well. My point was to mention he did a really great job with such a small role in the Tristram Shandy film, but it’s good to hear he’s been doing an awful lot otherwise as well.
