“spirit-destroying” - Darrell Jones

Seb Patrick / 16.02.08 / 12:28 pm

Er, right.

Danny John Jules “arrested for brandishing samurai sword at binmen”.

That’s… weird. More as we get it, etc. etc.

Seb! Headline “Cat has been through the bin men”

Sounds like a Homer situation. I have done the same. Its rubbish!

On a guess it’s to do with the recycling scheme, which in many london boroughs aren’t being done well as far as I have seen.

My stuff to be recycled has been outside for two weeks and other people who have put recycling stuff in their boxes round here haven’t had it collected and that why so many seem to have just decided to put it straight in the bin.

A few weeks back on the news there was a bit about one borough which now has it’s bins checked for any recyclables by the bin men and if any are found the house it belonged to gets fined…People are going to end up putting their rubbish in front of their neighbour’s houses aren’t they and also it’s known that many bin men have been to prison in the past, so is officially allowing them to search though people’s bins really a good idea? I think many people don’t really know what they can recycle and many don’t have the time.

Anyway, could be too many bin bags…if the bin is overflowing bin men are now allowed in some areas to leave it. Which is a bit stupid as that means it would encourage the number of pests at those places.

I’m confused as to the Mirror saying samurai sword where as the BBC are saying knife. They are very very different sizes.

I like how every story about this starts with ‘Red Dwarf…’ with The Mirror even using a picture of the Cat! Marvellous. An altercation with some binmen…it reminds me of something out of Harry Potter.

Ohh dear.

Do what you gotta, officers, but don’t mess up his hair.

…I’m probably a terrible person for saying that.

Karl / Sat, 2008-02-16 16:54 / #

Is that the best headline you could manage?

It can’t be anything more than a coincidence, but today I bought the Mirror on an impulse for the first time in about a year or so. The very last time I bought a copy, again with no prior knowledge of contents, was the day they ran the Craig story.

I wonder what secrets we’ll find out about Chris Barrie in 12 months time.

Something to do with “S&M/bondage with a prostitute, gone terribly, terribly wrong”.

I’m calling it.

Karl's picture

Karl / Sat, 2008-02-16 17:12 / #

Hasn’t Craig Charles already done that one?

Arlene Rimmer BSc SSc's picture

Arlene Rimmer B... / Sat, 2008-02-16 17:16 / #

Not with the bondage angle, surely. Or is there some fact I’m missing here?

Anyway, if not that, then Hattie Hayridge in an armed bank heist, or maybe Robert Llewellyn in an international slave-trade ring.

I’m amused that it’s currently the second story on the BBC’s Entertainment news index.

So it’s newsworthy enough for that, but the BBC won’t commission new Dwarf, etc etc etc.

Or we could just use the teleporter.

I see the BBC has downsized the “samurai sword” to a knife, but still, Danny, you were being stupid. An actor now working on children’s TV, waving a knife around? That’s an interesting way to retire from showbiz certainly.

No doubt we will hear all about it in due course.

performingmonkey's picture

performingmonkey / Mon, 2008-02-18 16:01 / #

My guess is that he was buttering some toast (or perhaps a muffin…) and went out to have a word with the binmen with the knife still in his hand.
