- CUNTS ADD AVERTS: Thank you to bewtifulfreak for pointing out this blog entry about Rolling Rock’s frankly bizarre new marketing plan. It’s not quite as destructive as Nova 5’s mission from Infinity: Welcomes Careful Drivers, but Rolling Rock apparently plan to project their advert on to the next full moon on March 21st. SNAFU-ed doesn’t seem convinced it’ll work, and to be honest it doesn’t really look like a genuine attempt, more a quite amusing publicity stunt, but you can decide for yourself and add your message on the (frankly abominable) Rolling Rock website.
- A LETHAL DOSE OF CADMIUM-II: Andrew Ellard can literally be credited for literally digging out this particular delight. UK Sci-Fi based Podcast Cadmium-II finally lives up to its name by literally dedicating its 16th episode to Red Dwarf in order to literally celebrate the 20th Anniversary. It’s literally well worth a listen as these guys are literally well versed in sci-fi and it’s literally interesting to literally hear people other than us talking at such length about the show. It literally concentrates on series 1, which is probably a good thing as the brief snippets we got of their opinions of series VI, VII and VIII indicates I would literally and violently disagree. They also literally say “literally” literally far too much.
That is literally it.

They complained about the ‘formula’ of series VI and said it was good it was shaken up with series VII. It seems they look upon series VIII favourably as well, the big fannies.
Like I say, though - it is actually a pretty good cast but obviously not as amazingly wonderful as our DwarfCasts.

Arthur C Clarke also came up with a similar idea, think it was in the “Sentinel” collection of short stories, where someone hijacks a scientific experiment to print a Coca Cola advert across the moon. And there’s Asimov’s “Buy Jupiter”, where canny Earthlings sell the rights to use Jupiter’s atmosphere as an advertising medium to aliens (knowing they can sell similar rights to Saturn to the alien’s business rivals for a lot more).

Heh, no, just an honest typo. Rest assured that if I realised the pun before writing it I would’ve done it in a shot, though!

What, that they’re crap except for Gunmen, the end of Out Of Time, the ‘teleporter’ gag and parts of Cassandra?
