You actually want to know? Well, Marie Birch is a pseudonym, her real name is Lynne Guy. She posts under the name Paul because she uses her husband’s account. She has another pseudonym, Josie Pargery, which she tries to pass off as being someone else who is her friend, but the writing style is unmistakable. She used to go to Dimension Jump conventions and ask inappropriately long rambling questions of the guests, and she writes fan fiction which she posts to alt.tv.red-dwarf. Originally it was “The alternative Red Dwarf” which seemed to have no resemblence to Red Dwarf at all, instead being about princesses in big castles, and peer pressure had her eventually change it to the stuff she posts now. She’s a big fan of Craig Charles and reviews almost everything he does, and she helps out the fan community by pointing everyone at her output regularly.

She’s harmless and incorrigable.

CMA used to be chairperson of the Fan Club back in the good old days, so she knows her fanbase. Also, I know that Marie/Lynne pesters James with lots of huge repetitive emails every now and then, so I assume she did the same to CMA.

The first time I read anything by her, I genuinely thought she was doing a brilliant satire on the “maybe they can give you a hand with your punctuation” gag.

I think it did eventually have a tenuous connection in which Kryten appeared from nowhere and the prince turned out to be an alternate version of Lister. Or Rimmer. Or something…
