A: Fuck knows, but it doesn’t hurt to pick up on unfounded rumours, does it?
Since DJ last year, we’ve known that Doug has been writing episodes for a new series (‘IX’ according to some, ‘X’ according to Charles Armitage and probably ‘I’ according to SoundableObject) that they were hoping to show in late 2010. Go, refresh yourself and then return here pronto.
With regards to a possible filming schedule, nicky_j on the TOS Forum seems to have some ‘insider’ ‘information’:
I heard something recently about september/october for filming and I would say I heard that from quite a reliable source, but said person had had a few drinks and was waffling abit. So I didnt take too much notice Wink but either way I’d guess itll be 2011 before we see any new episodes on tv.
A reliable source, eh? Let’s assume for a moment that this is not a MASSIVE LIE then this means a number of things:
- Despite hearing nothing since DJ (and CA’s brief mention), this is confirmation things are still rolling along and actually happening. Back to Earth’s success is all well and good, but if history has taught us anything it’s to be extremely pessimistic about the possibility of new Dwarf. Great ratings for BtE is one thing, but actually writing and mounting Dave’s first full scripted series is quite another. That date is very close, though.
- As nicky_j points out, this would tend to point to an early 2011 transmission if you apply normal filming/broadcast schedules to the series. Although that may be a bit hasty, considering BtE had an incredibly tight turnaround, so who knows?
- Why on earth didn’t nicky_j take more notice? Or ask more questions? WHY?!
Of course, this could all be bollocks or, more likely, accurate but wildly premature but it serves as a nice reminder that things are moving along and the rumour mill should be gathering pace in the next few months. And we’ll be here.

Yeah, I see no reason why she might be lying, but it’s always prudent to cover all angles.
Were/are any of us actually expecting a 2010 broadcast? They could maybe push for a Christmas event or something but there’s no need to rush things. Easter 2011? Same day as ep 1 of the Matt Smith/Sheridan Smith series?
nicky_j has now attempted to perform a Stalinist scrubbing of history by deleting her TOS post. Not sure why, it’s not like she’d get into trouble! Anyway, TOO LATE.

I’m think that something BIG(ish) will be announced at DJ XVI. Until then, I doubt we’ll hear much.

This time last year we were salivating over the teaser trailers for BtE.

I don’t think she’s lying. I seem to remember a previous post where Nicky_J stated that she went to see someone (who she mentions by name in that post) at a gig. (I remember cos she said she was feeling a bit poorly before hand and wasn’t sure she’d make it.)
She didn’t mention that news in that particular post, but putting on my detecting hat and connecting that post together with this…. I could be making a 256. Maybe she’s associated with ‘the business’ and has spoken to more than 1 person involved. Yeah, not sure I buy that either.
I’m not sure I should say more since she wants to keep the person vague in her second post but it’s not difficult to work out who it might be. There’s even a clue in my first paragraph.
Still premature though. These things often change.
